New Year

It's been a long time. I've been knitting a bit but the new job and traveling has me worn out. Been reading a lot of photography books and since I haven't learned to knit and read at the same time I've fallen behind.

Can anybody tell me what this is?

First quarter finished

I've finished my first quarter at school. You may have noticed that my knitting has slowed down quite a bit. School, NSBE and choir has taken so much time (the new job has helped too but I'm glad about that).

I found a protest on my way to take shots of City Hall.

I submitted this shot for my final. I'm ashamed to say that i had no idea what the sign meant until my boss told me today.

I've "finished" three sweaters. And I finished in quotes because I haven't blocked any, put on buttons, and in some cases sewn on sleeves.

What Is Happening

It's been too long. I've kind of been holding on posting on purpose. Life has been crazy and good at the same time. It may have been missed in previous posts but I am single....again. But what's strange is this time...I'm glad. It took a second to be glad but I'm there. Maybe I'm hopelessly single, which is cool with me. One great thing in the whole deal is I'm beginning to trust my instincts and I get both my closets.

Been working in the garden and knitting but took a break from my camera...I know, crazy right. I was shutter blocked. I would grab my camera, want to take a picture but couldn't press the shutter. Nothing struck me as if it needed to be in a picture. Surprisingly, during this shutter block I decided to go back to school. Thanks to the encouragement of friends and family, I'm going to the Moore College of Art for a certificate in Digital Photography. I may be their first student in the program but I don't even care. When I first visited the school I was so excited. I was awesome watching all the women walk around (it's a girls school) and walking into the art gallery was amazing. It was refreshing to see a place dedicated to art & a female's perspective of what is art. Now I don't think I could have appreciated going to an all girls school when I was 16 and just starting college...but now being 30, its kind of nice. This quarter I'm in the Digital Photography course (the Foundations in Photography course was cancelled). So I'll be getting hot & heavy with Photoshop until December. Luckily, two weeks before school started I grabbed my camera again. And I liked what came out. I'm getting used to color...which after having done B&W photos for 6 years now I can appreciate the fact that I need to learn how to choose color.
